Quick start lifts Warhawks over Homestead

Germantown recorded its third victory over Homestead this season, as the Warhawks jumped out to a 10-0 lead on the way to 63-56 opening round playoff win over the Highlanders March 9.

Kate Benson led the Warhawks with 21 points while Eliza Wortman added 20 points.

Afterwards, Germantown Coach Matt Stuve noted it was the first playoff win for Germantown senior class.

"That's a big stepping stone. Hopefully, we can ready for Saturday and correct a few of the things we need to work on defensively," Stuve said. "We'll take 63 points  any night of the week."

Having played Homestead twice before, Stuve said he knew the Highlanders "live and die" by shooting from behind the three-point arc, which kept Homestead in the game for portions of the third and fourth quarters.

"We got to find a way to correct that in the next few days," Stuve said.

Stuve said working hard defensively and anticipating play would be among the things his team would work on over the next few days.
