Registration for Living History Encampment now open
Registration is now open for the Living History Encampment at the Old Courthouse Museum Square, 320 S. 5th Ave., West Bend. The encampment will take place Thursday, May 3 and Friday, May 4.
Educators are encouraged to bring their students. Encampment content focuses on the cultural, social, political, economic and geological environments of Wisconsin from 1800 to 1840. Professional reenacting educators discuss changes and continuity of human life and its interaction with nature.
Participants will visit with a blacksmith and see how metal was sculpted into useful objects; learn about the daily activities of women on the frontier and compare it with life today; and enter a plains trader's tee-pee to see the many trade goods that were necessary for frontier living. Reenactors will also demonstrate music and flint knapping.
