Otto W. Pagel, age 95, of Kewaskum, formerly of West Bend, passed away peacefully on Friday February 19, 2010 at the Samaritan Heath Center in West Bend.
He was born on December 16, 1914 in Oberhausan, Germany to the late Richard and Hedwig (nee Voss) Pagel.At a young age Otto and his family immigrated to the United States and eventually settled in West Bend in 1926.
Otto was united in marriage to Dorothy Kuschel on June 27, 1942 at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in West Bend.He served his country honorably during WWII by enlisting in the United States Army.Following the war Otto worked at the West Bend Company for 47 years before retiring as a supervisor on January 1, 1980.
Otto enjoyed playing sheepshead and was a member of both St. Lucas Ev. Lutheran Church in Kewaskum and the Fred A. Schaefer V.F.W. Post #1393 in West Bend.
Otto is survived by his wife Dorothy of Kewaskum, his daughter Linda (Don) Wallisch of Mequon, his grandson Scott Wallisch of Mequon, and many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Otto was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and a brother.
A funeral service in honor of Otto will be held on Wednesday, February 24, at 2:00 pm at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home in West Bend.Rev. Troy Swenson will officiate and entombment will follow in Washington County Memorial Park.Visitation will be on Wednesday, at the funeral home, from 12:00 noon until the time of service.
Mavis E. Bartelt, nee Milbrath, age 82, of Allenton, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2010 at the Kathy Hospice.
She was born on May 30, 1927 in Milwaukee to the late Herbert and Anita (nee Schultz) Milbrath.On February 14, 1948, Mavis was united in marriage to Alfred Bartelt at Siloah Lutheran Church in Milwaukee.
She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Aux. Fohl Martin Post #483. Mavis enjoyed crocheting, baking and cooking.
She is survived by her husband, Alfred; her son, Jim (Noreen) Bartelt of Allenton; two grandchildren, Karrie Bartelt of Ripon and Dawn (Matt) Bartell of West Bend; three great-grandchildren, Magen, Brianna and Courtney; one sister, Donna Olsen of Rolla, MO; one sister-in-law, Ruth Tomzak of Menomonee Falls; other relatives and friends.
In accordance with Mavis’s wishes, there will be no services.Myrhum – Patten Funeral & Cremation Service, West Bend, is assisting the family.

Beatrice R. Liegl, (nee Oechsner), age 94, of West Bend, passed away Saturday February 20, 2010 at Friendship House of Cedar Community.
She was born on July 27, 1915, in Leroy to the late Linus and Lucy (nee Schraufnagel) Oechsner.Beatrice was united in marriage to Adolph Liegl on May 31, 1938 at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Leroy.Together they made their home in West Bend.Adolph preceded her in death on August 27, 1972.
Bea was a supervisor at Amity Leather for 26 years before she retired in 1979, and was a member of Amity’s 25-year club.
She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, Holy Angles Mission Circle, Holy Angels Christian Women, and St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary.Bea was an active volunteer for the Good Samaritan Guild and the Samaritan Home.
Beatrice is survived by her daughter, Donna (Paul) Albinger of West Bend; five grandchildren, Michael (Sandra) Albinger, Sandra (Jeff) Sheridan, John Liegl, Susan (Jason) Stepp and Cheri (Michael) Norris; eight great-grandchildren, Amy, Adam, Blake, Jennifer, Justin, Lexi, Matt, Brandon and Zachary; daughter-in-law, Kay (Gene) Schmid of Pewaukee; sister, Mary Ellen (Don) Lloyd of Fond du Lac; brother-in-law, Franklin Schwamb of Waupaca; three sisters-in-law, Jeanette Oechsner of Hartford, Pearl Oechsner of Theresa, and Florence Vollmer of Fond du Lac; other relatives and friends.
Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Adolph; her son, Kenneth Liegl; three sisters, Gertrude Oechsner, Betty (Bob) Byrnes and Maxine Schwamb; two brothers Hubert and Russell Oechsner; and a brother-in-law, Leo McArdle.
A Mass of Christian Burial in remembrance of Beatrice will be held on Wednesday February 24th, at 11:00 am, at Holy Angels Catholic Church (138 N. 8th Avenue) West Bend.Rev. Jerry Brittain will be the celebrant.Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 9:00am until the time of the Mass.Entombment will take place in Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield.
Memorials to Holy Angels School Trust Fund or Alzheimer’s Association would be appreciated.

Ethel Freeman (nee Jorgensen), age 83 of West Bend, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2010 at the Friendship House in Cedar Community.
She was born on July 10, 1926 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to the late Andrew and Kristin Jorgensen.Ethel moved to Milwaukee with her family at an early age and graduated from Lincoln High School.
On August 29, 1953, she was united in marriage to Robert Freeman.Together they moved several times to communities in Wisconsin where Robert taught high school. In 1957 they came to West Bend where Robert taught High School English and French.
Ethel was very active as a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.She sang in the choir, directed the children’s choir and was often a soloist on Christmas Eve.Ethel sang occasionally with a group in Milwaukee called the Romany Singers.She also sang and performed in local operettas, often in a leading role.She worked as a secretary at the West Bend company for over 20 years and as an aide for the high school for 2 years.Ethel loved to travel, take photos and do rosemalling.She loved her Danish heritage and had been back to Denmark many times.
She is survived by her two children, Julie Schultz of Cedarburg and Craig Freeman of Beaver Dam; two grandchildren, Lauren and Tyler Schultz; sister-in-law, Sandy (Bill) Bates of Portland, OR; brother-in-law, Bernard Kohler of Menomonee Falls; other relatives and dear friends.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; son, Scott Freeman; son-in-law, Bob Schultz; brother, John Kjar and sister, Elsie Madsen.
A memorial service in remembrance of Ethel will be held on Thursday, February 18th at 7:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, 140 N. 7th Avenue, West Bend. Rev. David Schoob will officiate. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 5:00 pm until the time of service. Cremation took place at Myrhum – Patten Funeral & Cremation Service.
