Violet H. Schaetz

Violet H. Schaetz, nee Bergelin, 93, of West Bend, passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, West Bend.

She was born November 26, 1916 in Kewaunee, WI to the late Fred and Ernestine (nee Kitzerow) Bergelin.  She married Louis J. Schaetz on November 24, 1938 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Glenmore.  She farmed with her husband until his death on March 28, 1966.  Violet then went to work at Preble School and Bellin Hospital.  She later worked at Konop Vending/Heritage Food for many years, until retiring at the age of 77.  In 1998 she moved from Green Bay to West Bend where enjoyed living at River Bend Senior Village.  She also enjoyed crafts and sewing.  She was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in West Bend.

She is survived by her son, Allen (Vivian) Schaetz of West Bend; three grandchildren, Lynn (Dave) McMullin of Novi, MI, James (Gwen) Schaetz of Lebanon, TN, and Thomas (Andrea) Schaetz of West Bend; eight great-grandchildren, Troy McMullin, Tyler McMullin, August Schaetz, Mary Schaetz, Morgan Schaetz, Elijah Schaetz, Melina Schaetz, and Alexander Schaetz; a sister, Erna Lorberblatt of Green Bay; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Bergelin of Green Bay; a Godchild, Susan Krawczyk of Green Bay; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Marilyn Schaetz, a son, James Schaetz, four sisters, Lenora Bergelin, Ruth Bergelin, Roselyn Bergelin, and Gertrude (Edward) Siebold; two brothers, Orville Bergelin and Gerhart (Ann) Bergelin; and a brother-in-law, Edward Lorberblatt.

Funeral services in remembrance of Violet will be held on Monday, May 10th at 3:30 p.m. at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, West Bend, with Rev. Guy Roberts officiating.  Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of services.  Burial will be on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church Cemetery, Glenmore.

William Sellhausen

William E. “Bill” Sellhausen, age 83, of West Bend, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2010 at the Cedar Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center in the Town of West Bend.

 

Bill was born on July 10, 1926 in Milwaukee to the late William O. and Lillian (nee Sikora) Sellhausen.  He served his country honorably during WWII by enlisting in the United States Navy and serving on the LST 700.  On March 22, 1947, following his return from the service, Bill was united in marriage to the love of his life Helen Offenbecher.  Together they shared 63 years of marriage during which time Bill enjoyed a long career as a lithographer until his retirement.

 

In 1973 Bill and Helen moved from Milwaukee to Little Cedar Lake in West Bend.  Since 1976 Bill was know around the lake as the “cannon guy” who faithfully honored his country every 4th of July with hourly blasts from his canon that echoed from shore to shore.  Next to his family, Bill loved fishing, hunting, and living on the lake. 

 

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Helen of West Bend; his three children, William A (Christine) Sellhausen of Hartford, Shiranda Deerwoman of Payson AZ, and Sandra Minney of West Bend; his five grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.  He is further survived by his “adopted daughter”, Linda Kreutzer of West Bend; his sister, Betty (Harold) Schuster of Heartland; and many other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and close friends.

 

In honor of Bill’s wishes, private family services will be held at a later date.

 Daniel A. Anderson

Daniel A. Anderson, age 76, of West Bend, passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at his residence.

 

He was born on May 12, 1933 in Ashland to the late Albert and Mary (nee McDonald) Anderson.  He served his country honorably in the United States Army.  In January of 1961, Daniel was united in marriage to Sharon Stadler in Milwaukee.

 

He worked for the Steam Fitter’s Union in Milwaukee and was a member of the Steam Fitter’s Union-Local #601; retiring in 1994.

 

Daniel is survived by his wife, Sharon of West Bend; his four children, Christine (James) Ertl of Lublin, Eric Anderson of West Bend, Linda (Daniel) Baertlein of Madison and Stephen (Kari Lehmkuhl) Anderson of West Bend; seven grandchildren, C.J. Ertl, Doug Ertl, Sara Anderson, Abbie Anderson, Ian Anderson, Josh Baertlein and Aaron Baertlein; one brother, Allan (Jessie) Anderson of Oxnard, CA; two brothers-in-law, Joe Stadler of Ashland and Jim (Debbie) Stadler of Rockford, IL; and two sisters-in-law Arlene Nicoletti of Herbster and Judie (Wayne) Vanaman of Owasso, OK; other relatives and  friends.

 

In honor of Daniel’s wishes, no public service will be held.  Cremation took place at Myrhum~Patten Funeral and Cremation Service and burial of his cremated remains will be in St. Agnes Church Cemetery in Ashland.

Carmen A. Kempf

 

Carmen F. Kempf, 62, of West Bend, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at his residence.

 

He was born January 20, 1948 in West Bend to Edwin and Edna (nee Roehl) Kempf.  He was employed at the Gehl Company for many years and he was also a truck driver for Hanke Trucking.  He enjoyed the outdoors and deer hunting.

 

He is survived by his daughter, Elaine Kempf of West Bend; a granddaughter, Holly Elizabeth Kempf of West Bend; his mother, Edna Kempf of West Bend; his sister, Karen Butzlaff of Harshaw; a niece Laurie (Jason) DeMeyer of Harshaw; three nephews, Randall Butzlaff of Campbellsport, Timothy Butzlaff of Harshaw, and Bruce (Jill) Butzlaff of Rhinelander; many other relatives and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Kempf, and his brother-in-law, Lloyd Butzlaff.

 

A memorial service in remembrance of Carmen will be held on Saturday, May 1 at 4:00 p.m. at the Myrhum – Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington St., West Bend.  The family will greet visitors at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.
