The owner of a Menomonee Falls home that was destroyed by a fire Dec. 27 is talking with investigators, a spokesman for state Department of Justice said Dec. 28.
Bill Cosh confirmed that Latasha Jackson is back in the state and speaking with investigators.
The fire at W209 N5490 Goetz Court was noticed at 5:17 a.m. According to a statement issued by the state Department of Justice, the fire was controlled within one hour and extinguished within three hours. The Menomonee Falls fire and police departments are investigating the fire with assistance from state agencies.
“The State Fire Marshal was contacted to assist in the investigation due to the magnitude of damage and the limited resources of the investigating agencies. This is a common practice. As of the time of this release the cause and origin of the fire has not been determined and remains under investigation,” the agency said in a statement.
Jackson is under investigation for defrauding state agencies while operating a child care agency. She was out of state at the time the fire occurred but has since returned.

Firefighters received a call about the fire at appoximately 5:20 a.m. Units from Menomonee Falls, Elm Grove, Brookfield, Lannon and Germantown responded to the fire. No one was in the residence at the time of the fire.
Firefighters were still at the scene during the early afternoon sorting through the damage and no cause has yet been determined.
According to Waukesha County tax records listed on the county Web site, taxes on the home were billed to LaTasha Jackson.
