The Oct. 25 chili cook-off at the National Guard Armory in Sussex was the first opportunity for many residents to meet the new director of Sussex Area Outreach Services (SOS).
Jennifer Waltz started as the new director a week earlier. Waltz thanked attendees for coming out to the cook off and to the Sussex Lions Club for their work for the event.
“It’s been great. I’ve met a lot of wonderful people. I’m learning a lot and there’s just so much more to do,” Waltz said.
Waltz has seven years experience in social work and her educational background is in psychology, criminal justice and clinical psychology. She is a three-year resident of the village.
Sussex Area Outreach Services served just over 500 households in the Sussex area. The organization is the social ministry arm of the Cooperating Churches of Sussex.
